Mort Raymond
Mort
Raymond, founder of Datamation Systems, passed away on March 8,
2007.
Mort was a visionary businessman who helped extend the concepts of
professional management and systems to many operations areas of
organizations. He was active in the fields of mail management and
records management and helped nurture the skills and professional
standards of many people who are now leaders in these fields. He
took great pride in the way in which his colleagues (employees,
customers and suppliers), developed their knowledge and leadership
skills. He was especially proud of the role he played in helping to
start the Mail Systems Management Association
(MSMA)
and its certification program.
He is survived by his wife and partner of 54 years, Mary, his two
children and two grandchildren, and the hundreds of people whose
lives he touched in so many good ways.
The following was posted by Jerry LeComte, President of the New
Jersey Chapter of the MSMA, on their web site:
"In Memory of Mort Raymond
Founder of The Mail Systems Management Association
It is difficult for me to advise the membership of the passing of
Mort Raymond, the founder of our organization.
In attending services for Mort this past Friday, I remember the man
I knew, even preceding his vision of a national network of Mail
Industry professionals.
A gentleman of morals, ethics, wisdom & foresight.
He was a man of great vision and strength and one who didn't know
the meaning of "Can't Do" and never hesitant to help.
I remember Mort first realizing the need for the MSMA.
I remember Mort working tirelessly to build the MSMA.
I remember long seemingly endless night time meetings with Mort
guiding our work on innovative programs such as CMDSM, while guiding
the MSMA.
I remember the never ending support of Mort, his son Jerry and all
the great crew at Datamation.
I remember Mort establishing me as Mr. Mail, with the CEO at
Midlantic Bank in 1985.
I remember Mort as an untiring mentor and champion of our industry.
As president of the New Jersey Chapter of the MSMA, I wish to extend
our deepest condolences to the Raymond family.
As his wife and lifelong partner Mary said to us all on Friday, Mort
is still here with us. The MSMA is a great legacy of Mort Raymond's
undying spirit which will continue to be with us in our endeavors."
